Materials that are accepted at the site at Millom include:

• Scrap metal
• Wood
• Cardboard
• Plastics
• Garden
• Fridges and other white goods (freezers, ovens, cookers etc)
• Fluorescent Tubes/energy saving light bulbs
• Gas bottles
• Clothing
• Books
• Shoes
• Tyres
• Oil
• Hardcore and rubble/soil
• Small household batteries
• Small appliances (hairdryers, microwaves, irons etc)
• Glass (clear, brown, green)
• Car batteries
• TVs and monitors
• Chemicals ie weedkiller (this must be reported to an attendant when brought on site)
• General household waste

Trade waste is not accepted

There is a permit scheme in operation at Millom recycling centre. This means that if you want to bring your household rubbish using a van or a twin axle trailer (up to 3m long) you will require a permit to do so.
