Materials that are accepted at the site at Canal Head include:
- Scrap metal
- Wood
- Garden
- Large appliances (fridge's, freezers, cookers etc)
- Gas bottles
- Small appliances (hairdryer's microwaves, irons etc)
- Fluorescent tubes/energy saving lightbulbs
- Household batteries
- Plastics
- Oil
- Paint
- Clothing/textiles
- Hardcore and rubble/soil
- Cardboard
- Cans and tins
- Newspapers and magazines
- Glass bottles and jars (clear, green, brown)
- Car batteries
- TVs and monitors
- Plasterboard and gypsum (please telephone in advance to confirm that there is enough space for these items)
- Chemicals ie weedkiller (this must be reported to an attendant when brought on site)
- Asbestos(please telephone in advance to confirm that there is enough space for your asbestos waste)
- General household waste
Trade waste is not accepted at Canal Head HWRC.
There is a permit scheme in operation at Canal Head HWRC. This means that if you want to bring your household rubbish to Canal Head HWRC using a van or a twin axle trailer (up to 3m long) you will require a permit to do so.
