Making good reuse of the things that we find

For the second year running, Resource Cumbria entered the Dalston Festival scarecrow competiton.

Cumbria County County Council's Waste Management Team, who are based in Dalston, took the lead on the partnership's entry - a 4 foot womble.

Lousie Woods, Cumbria County Council's Waste Prevention Officer said "We decided that a womble would be perfect for our entry as, like us, they encourage people to reduce, reuse and recycle. Uncle Bulgaria would have certainly approved as, in fine wombling style, we made our scarecrow from reusing old household junk such as waste paper and unwanted clothes."

The Resource Cumbria womble will be on display at Victory Hall in Dalston until 8 August.
